Indochina series group, 15 days

A coach-based land programme for tour operators who run the same departure every week or two through a season: Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hue, Hoi An, Saigon with the Mekong, and three nights in Siem Reap. Built around hotel allotments and a guide roster, not around one group.

What makes this a series programme

A series is the same programme sold many times. What the tour operator buys from us is not one trip but a season: a set of departure dates, hotel rooms held for each date, boat cabins blocked, a coach plan and a pool of guides who know the programme. The group on each date changes; the operation should not.

That shapes every choice in the itinerary below. There is a second Hanoi night after the boat so that a weather cancellation on the bay never collides with a flight. Hoi An gets three nights because a free day there absorbs delays from the Hue road. Siem Reap has three nights so that a late-arriving regional flight costs the group an evening, not a temple day.

Allotment terms — how many rooms are held per date, and when unsold rooms are released back to the hotel — are agreed in the agency contract for each season. So is the free-place policy for the tour leader. Neither is set on this page.

Day by day

Day 1

Arrive Hanoi

Airport meet-and-greet as a group, coach to the hotel. If the group arrives on several flights, we quote one coach transfer per flight cluster, agreed when the flight manifest arrives.

StayHotel, central HanoiMealsWelcome dinner

Day 2

Hanoi

Temple of Literature, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum area, lunch, then the Old Quarter on foot in two sub-groups with two guides when the group is over 20, because the lanes are narrow and one guide cannot be heard at the back.

StayHotel, central HanoiMealsBreakfast, lunch

Day 3

Hanoi to Ha Long Bay

Coach to the pier, boarding around midday. For groups over 20 we block one boat or two boats sailing the same route, so the group stays together for dinner.

StayCabin on an overnight boatMealsBreakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 4

Ha Long Bay to Hanoi

Brunch on board, disembark, coach back to Hanoi. Afternoon free, or a water puppet show in the evening. This night is the buffer that protects the next day's flight.

StayHotel, central HanoiMealsBreakfast, brunch

Day 5

Fly to Hue

Morning flight to Hue. Afternoon at the Imperial City, the former seat of the Nguyen dynasty, inscribed as a World Heritage site in 1993.

StayHotel, HueMealsBreakfast, dinner

Day 6

Hue

Royal tombs by coach, the Thien Mu pagoda, and a dragon boat on the Perfume River. In the rainy months of the central coast, the boat is replaced by a road visit.

StayHotel, HueMealsBreakfast, lunch

Day 7

Hue to Hoi An

Coach over the Hai Van Pass or through the tunnel, depending on the weather and the road conditions on the day. Lunch in Da Nang, arrival in Hoi An mid-afternoon.

StayHotel, Hoi AnMealsBreakfast, lunch

Day 8

Hoi An

Old-town walking tour in sub-groups, then an afternoon cooking class or countryside visit, chosen per season by the tour operator so that every departure runs the same.

StayHotel, Hoi AnMealsBreakfast, lunch

Day 9

Hoi An, free day

No services. The tour leader keeps the operations contact; we hold a vehicle on call for clients who need a doctor or a pharmacy.

StayHotel, Hoi AnMealsBreakfast

Day 10

Da Nang to Saigon

Flight south, coach city tour on arrival: the post office, the cathedral area from outside, the War Remnants Museum.

StayHotel, central SaigonMealsBreakfast, dinner

Day 11

Mekong Delta day

Coach to the delta, then small boats in groups of a size the boats are licensed for. The group re-forms for lunch and returns to Saigon in the late afternoon.

StayHotel, central SaigonMealsBreakfast, lunch

Day 12

Fly to Siem Reap

Regional flight to Siem Reap–Angkor International Airport, about 50 km east of town. Afternoon rest; evening at a Cambodian dance performance if the operator includes it.

StayHotel, Siem ReapMealsBreakfast, dinner

Day 13

Angkor

Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and the Bayon, with the hottest hours spent at lunch. Two guides for groups over 20.

StayHotel, Siem ReapMealsBreakfast, lunch

Day 14

Angkor and Tonle Sap

Ta Prohm in the morning, then the Tonle Sap lake by boat in the afternoon when water levels allow. In the driest months, the lake visit is replaced by a village or market visit.

StayHotel, Siem ReapMealsBreakfast, lunch, farewell dinner

Day 15

Depart Siem Reap

Coach to SAI for the group flight, or several transfers if the group leaves on different flights.

Operating notes for series departures

Group flights

Group fares for Hanoi–Hue, Da Nang–Saigon and Saigon–Siem Reap come with their own name-change and deposit rules, set by the airline, not by us. We show them as a separate block so that you can see when the fare moves without the land rate moving.

Single rooms

Series groups often run at a higher single-room ratio than FIT. We quote a supplement per room; the number of single rooms the allotment can absorb per date is part of the season agreement.

Guide continuity

Each city has its own local guide. On request we quote a national guide who travels with the group from Hanoi to Saigon; that adds the guide's flights and hotel nights but gives the group one person who knows them by name. The Cambodian sector always uses a Cambodian guide.

Tet and peak weeks

Lunar New Year 2027 falls in early February. Hotel minimum stays, gala dinners at Christmas and New Year, and limited guide availability make those departures a separate price, not a supplement.

Who this programme is not for

  • Operators selling a one-off group: use the tailor-made format, where the programme is built around one date.
  • Groups under ten paying travellers: coach and two-guide planning stops making sense below that.
  • Travellers who want their own pace in each city: the coach plan runs the same for everyone.
  • Departures timed for the central coast's wettest months without a flexible Hue and Hoi An day.
  • Operators who need final rooming lists changed freely close to departure: allotments are released on dates agreed in the contract.

Common questions

Questions agents ask

How many departure dates make a series?

There is no fixed minimum on our side. What matters is whether the hotels will hold an allotment for the dates you need, which we check before quoting.

What happens if a departure does not reach the minimum group size?

The group band rate changes, or the departure is combined or cancelled, under the terms in the agency contract. We tell you which hotel and boat deadlines apply to each date.

Can each departure have a different hotel?

It can, but it defeats the purpose of a series. We recommend one hotel per city for the season, with a named alternative if the allotment is full.

Do you provide a tour leader from Vietnam?

We can quote a national guide who travels with the group through Vietnam. A tour leader from your own company travels on the place agreed in the contract.
